Technical Information

So called ISO Container are standardized high capacity containers (freight containers) made out of steel that allow for an easy and fast loading, handling, storing and discharging of goods. You mainly find 20foot Container – the so called TEU (Twenty foot equivalent unit)– and 40-Foot-Container (FEU = forty foot equivalent unit).

Structure of a Standard Container (ISO)

Container mainly consists of steel (usually the robust Cor-ten steel). The walls of the containers are made out of sheet metal plates. (Corrugation) The container has a protective coat of lacquer and gets its own container serial number. You can differ those standard containers (Dry containers) that we use for our business as follows:

REEFER CONTAINER

Reefer containers are being divided into 2 categories, but with all our projects we only use containers with integrated cooling system- (Integral container, Integral-Reefer). Integral containers do have their own cooling unit which is integrated in the wall opposite the front wall and runs by electrical power. Every container can be set separetely to a certain cooling or heating temperature. This will be supervised and recorded constantly by the built in electronics. To compensate the additional weight of the cooling system, the walls of integral reefers are often made out of aluminium. Because of the insulation, Reefer containers are also slightly different in internal width, length and height compared to those of a normal ISO container.
